Surgery

Thank you for all of your prayers! Joshua went into surgery this morning and is recovering very nicely! It was difficult to watch him get pulled away from me and carted down the hall. Until that moment, I had held it together pretty well. When they pulled him away, and I heard him scream "mamma" with hands stretched out, I couldn't hold the tears back. I think the nurses are accustomed to that, or at least I hope they are. And hour and a half later, we were able to go back to the recovery room to hold him.

Surprisingly, his incision doesn't look too bad. It's about an inch and a half long and is a little red and swollen, but I was expecting a lot worse. The doctors had to remove a section of skull and insert a plate because the "bump" had passed through the protective layers of the skull and was almost to the brain (thank goodness we caught it when we did). They assured us that they are almost positive that the "bump" is just a benign cyst. They sent it to pathology to make sure, but I have a feeling it's all good.

I feel soooo much better today than I had yesterday and over the course of the past few days. A lot of terrible things were racing through my mind, and now all I feel is peace. The bump is out, my son is recovering pretty well, and it appears to be that our regular lives are back on track. Now, we can focus on our upcoming baby. Thank you for your prayers. I'll keep you all updated.
