Joshua loves the Superman outfit that he got last Christmas. He, and the neighbor girls, often ask to wear it when they're playing. Well, on this particular day, Mercedes REALLY wanted to wear it. I guess maybe she is ready for some dress-up clothes of her own.
I thought she looked so cute in it, even though it is a boy costume. I pondered her wearing it for Halloween for about two seconds before I remembered how I told Joshua that we never pretend to be a girl if we're a boy and we don't pretend to be a boy if we're a girl (this conversation occurred when he told me that some boys in his class were pretending to have babies in their belly's and he wouldn't because only girls have babies in them). Call me paranoid, or strict, or silly. I don't care. I want gender roles to be accurate (especially in today's world) I want my boys to know how to be boys and my girls to know how to be girls. So, she was SuperGIRL and she was cute. We went and bought her a ballerina costume for Halloween that doubles as her dancing outfit for her dance class (that I am teaching at home). I'll post a picture of her in that soon.
