A New Look for $.50

The title does not lie. I got a new look for my kitchen for fifty cents! I happened to go to this store on a day when they just so happened to be having a HUGE sale. They had a bin full of curtain panals for 4/$1.00. I did some digging through the ugly ones and found two that I really liked. I cut the canvas-like one in half and hemmed it to make two curtains out of it, tied it up and then I used the longer one to go over the "pantry" area. I wish I had loaded up on a lot of the curtains and used them for material for my sewing projects. Alas, what's done is done. But I am WAY happy with my new curtains. I didn't ever like the other ones I made. The material was too thin, not the right color, and my stitching was HORRIBLE. I have gotten a little better since then at sewing a straight line.

I also made the shoe rack for the kids' shoes. I love the way it turned out and it makes our "mud room" look so much more organized. So, that's my little show and tell for you. I think one of these days I will make something like it for the
grown-up shoes, but for now our current shoe rack is fine. This was an easy project for me to do to learn how to use my jig saw.
