Jesus is asleep

So, this cute little conversation happened a few weeks ago, and some of you may have already heard it... but, since this is the family journal, I decided to write it in here so we could laugh at it for a long time to come.

Joshua was having difficulty sitting still in sacrament meeting the other week. So, I took him for a short walk around the church. We were walking the halls and talking about all of the pictures of Jesus when we came upon this picture.  Sorry it is so small, but you get the idea.

This is where the cute conversation happened:
Me: Joshua, who is that?
Joshua: It is a picture of Jesus, Mommy.
Me:  That's right!  What is Jesus doing?
Joshua: Jesus is sleeping! (said with almost a reprimanding tone)
Me: No, Jesus is not sleeping.  He is blessing his disciples.  He is blessing that man, or praying.  (Then, to see if any of that sunk in) What is Jesus doing?
Joshua:  He is hurting that man, Mommy!

Then, we came upon this picture:

Me: Joshua, who is that?
Joshua:  It another picture of Jesus!
Me:  Very good!  What is Jesus doing in this picture?
Joshua: (Contemplative expression) Jesus is talking to Mommy! (said with much astonishment).

#2: This conversation really touched me.
The other morning, Joshua woke up in a really good mood which isn't necessarily normal.
Me: Wow!  You're in a really good mood.  You must have had some good dreams last night.
Joshua:  Joshua had good dreams, Mommy!
Me: What did you dream about?
Joshua: The prophet!
Me:  The prophet?  What was the prophet wearing?
Joshua:  He was wearing black and white (which describes most all general authorities).
Me: You must be a special boy to be dreaming about the prophet.  Did he talk to you?
Joshua: Yes, prophet talked to Joshua.
Me: What did he talk about?
Joshua: The prophet talked to me about my Lord.

#3:
The choir got up to sing for our ward Christmas program.  Joshua was very attentive.  When they began singing, "When Josheph Went to Bethlehem", Joshua turned to me and said, "Mommy, they're singing about my Lord!"

Mercedes loves her older brother.  When he tries to play with her, she smiles and coos a lot!  She thinks he is so funny.  Joshua is a very gentle old brother and is good about sharing his toys with her (most of the time).  The other day she was playing with a toy that he thought was neat (he hadn't seen it in a long time because it is a baby toy).  Instead of just taking it away from her, he went and got a lego from his toys and gave it to her before he took her toy.  But, today she was playing with another neat toy while he was in the bath.  I was holding her while we watched him play in the tub.
Joshua: Joshua wants to see that toy!
Me: You're in the bath right now.
Joshua: Joshua wants the toy in the bathtub.
Me: Let Mercedes play with it while you take your bath.  I don't think I want it to go in the tub.
Joshua: (frustrated) No!  Baby Girl looks tired, Mommy put her to bed.  Give Joshua her toy in bathtub!  Baby Girl is tired!

She's in stage 4 now.

Joshua loves plain peanut butter.

That is so sweet! What a good mom, teaching him all those things. Isn't it amazing how much they take in?

How's the biting going? Or should I ask how your rear is? :)
