Joshua wanted a Star Wars birthday party. I took him online and let him pick which cake he wanted me to make. He picked one very similar to this. It was very important to him that his star wars figurines were placed on the cake. And, it was very important to him that it was a double decker cake. It's kind of sad that he was so particular about it and then didn't even get a single slice of it, not even a bite. :( Poor kid! He was too busy playing with his presents.
I didn't get a picture of everyone in attendance (ummmm Frost family, Peterson family, Mommom and Papa? Where were you?), but I did get video of everyone. Here is Michelle showing off her pregnant belly which practically covers up the festive table that Mommom decorated (luv you, Michelle!).
For some silly reason, Kevin decided to grow a beard all summer. He can pull it off well, but I still prefer a clean-shaven look. So does Luke, but not Mercedes. Here is Kevin being a little goofy.
And... here is Nick being Nick and Kevin being Kevin. The birthday boy is upside down.
Joshua is showing how old he is, and Jon Mark and Kevin are having a vertical jump contest.
Here is my newest sister in law, Bethany McAvoy. She married Nick.
Joshua is being silly.
Here is Grandma Haws.
And, Papa Haws. I don't know Mommom and Papa Mac were when I was taking pictures.
I made these "light-sabers" out of pool noodles and duct tape. I gave one to each kid and taught them a Jedi Knight training exercise. Then, I told them to get Jon Mark. They loved it. It did get a little crazy.
Jessica probably did a better job at taking pictures than I did. But, here she is trying to get out of the craziness.
Joshua was spoiled with gifts.
Here are a few of Joshua's favorites at 6 years old:
1. He loves showing off Hannah and is a great big brother.
2. He loves his pocket knife and his own pair of red scissors.
3. He loves to swim and do flips off of the side of the pool.
4. He loves sausage even though he hardly ever gets it.
5. He loves giving me "pounds" when I drop him off at school, but not kisses.
6. He loves riding a tandem bike with me to school.
We love you Joshua even though the following conversation took place yesterday:
J: Mom, my music teacher is SO pretty.
Me: Really? Is she young like me or older?
J: She is WAY younger than you. Plus, she has skin like me that's all one color with no brown spots or white spots.
Me: Oh, so she doesn't have any freckles or vitiligo?
J: Nope, and her hair isn't falling out either.
Yeah, that conversation made me feel really great! :-/
