Camping at Frost Ranch

We got to join the Frosts' on a last minute trip to their ranch.  It was a lot of fun!  When we first got there, the ground was quite muddy from the rain, the kids didn't know what to do.  They cried when they saw the mud on their clothes, but soon they realized that it was futile to try to stay clean, and they embraced the mud--pretty literally!  Luke was so completely dirty, I wasn't sure he'd ever clean up again.  He also got some really strange looking bug bites, perhaps from the mud, who knows.

We talked and ate.  We rode ATV's and we were treated to some of Brian's yummy biscuits.  I couldn't get enough of them.  They were quite tasty.  I also learned how to drive an ATV which was both thrilling and fun.  Jon Mark was eager to do jumps, and I had no choice but to be a little daring when riding behind him.  It was a lot of fun.  I was covered in mud.

Unfortunately, Ben and Vanessa's family couldn't join us.  We missed them, perhaps we can do it again sometime.

I came prepared to get some good sleep (which is always difficult to do when camping).  I brought ear plugs, my eye mask, and lots of chapstick.  But, it was a sleepless night anyway.  Luke woke up nearly every hour and needed lots of cuddles.  I also had to go potty really, really badly at one point in the night, but I could hear animals right outside the tent so I was afraid to go.  I woke up Jon Mark, but he wouldn't go with me.  Finally, I just went by myself and shined the flashlight on the animal while I went.  Turns out it was a horse.

Jon Mark got up with the kids in the morning so that I could get some kind of sleep.  When I did emerge from the tent, everyone else was around the camp fire.  Jon Mark took his shirt off as a joke and started chopping fire wood.  He always knows how to make me laugh.  Lindsay told him he was blinding because of his white skin.

Elena was quick to pose for me.  Mercedes was being a stinker and I spent a lot of time convincing her to let me take her picture.

It was interesting being back at the ranch.  The last time we were there, Joshua and Bekah were toddlers and Mercedes was a baby.  Time moves too quickly.  It was quite nostalgic.

In the pictures below, I had fallen asleep on the drive home.  Jon Mark thought it would be funny to take a picture of me sleeping with my mouth open.  I am putting it on here just to prove that I would.
