Joshua's B-day Bash Part 1

The pinata getting help from me (yes, it's out of order):

A little out of order, but the pinata needed some help:

Mercedes thought the water was too cold and hid beneath a towel most of the time.

Here is the wash down station:

Here are the train flags that the kids decorated while we waited for everyone to show up.

Here is the cake. It was so much fun to make.

Calling All Engines! Joshua's birthday party was a blast. It was great to have Grandma and Papa Haws with us (we didn't get any pictures of Grandma). We had the birthday party on Papa Haws's birthday because his birthday landed on that Saturday. My dad turned 54 and Joshua turned 4.

Of course we had a train theme. We had a Sodor Wash Down with the little pool (I had sponges and bubbles in it). We had a Cargo Handling station with water balloons (the kids were a little timid at that station). And, we had a Fast Track with the slip-n-slide (courtesy of the Gaskins). It was so much fun. The kids didn't really know how to do the slip-n-slide, so Jon Mark would bend over and push them down the slide one by one (hence all of the not-so-flattering butt shots of Jon Mark).

Joshua also really wanted a pinata. We said no at first--they're so expensive here--but we gave in. Joshua had a good time helping me "feed" the pinata the night before his party and made sure to tell the pinata to brush his teeth because "eating all that candy will cause the sugar bugs to come and make holes all over the teeth"... that's my boy! He always so full of imagination!

Joshua loved being with his friends. I think the highlight of the party for him (besides the presents) was the pinata and the slip-n-slide. He had so much fun sliding.

At the age of four here are some of Joshua's most favorite things:
*He loves pizza, and often requests it. Although, he really wanted hamburgers for his birthday dinner.
*He loves trains and all other "mighty machines" and will often pretend to be one.
*He loves to show off his dance moves and wants us to watch him dance and rap to the Diego song (rescue pack, comin' to the rescue...).
*He loves fruit snacks, and I think they are pretty much his favorite treat.
*He really likes dressing up like Captain America and is really into acting like a super hero.
*He loves wrestling dad and cuddling with mom. He loves it when I lay next to him and tell him stories from my childhood.
*He loves Honey Bunches of Oats cereal and Life cereal.
*He LOVES going to the splash pad.
*He likes to help me or Jon Mark with our projects and likes to help me with my chores.
*He really likes to help pull weeds and wishes they made gardening gloves his size.
*He loves to play in the sand at the beach but is a little timid about the waves.
*He enjoys listening to books on CD.
*He loves listening to HIS music in the car.
*Green is his favorite color.
*He likes to work on art projects with me ("preschool").

We LOVE LOVE LOVE our Joshua! Happy Birthday!

I will post more pictures later.
