I used to run away from all things that had to do with sewing. I believed that sewing was reserved for old ladies and those women who preferred a pioneerish kind of life. However, recently I have been inspired to take it up as a kind of hobby.
Aside from it being a good skill to acquire, it has it's frugality points as well. For instance, I made the curtain above out of a bed sheet that I was no longer going to be using.
Because I know nothing about sewing, my neighbor was kind enough to walk me through the process. I have since sewn another curtain and a panel to hide my doorless pantry. I will have to upload pictures of those sometime in August. Here is my first curtain (don't look too closely because it is full of uneven stitches and crooked lines--but I am also a beginner).
Not bad for a little $35 machine!
