Joshua has quite the vocabulary and I wish I could take credit for it. But, some of the words he knows, I just don't ever remember teaching him. It's common for him to say things like: "Look at those ominous clouds, I think it's going to rain." Or, "The luminous moon is out tonight." And, "It's a blustering day." His newest "big" word happened yesterday. We were killing a fly with the fly swatter and G. McAvoy said, "We hate flies." Joshua then corrected her by saying, "No, Grandma, we detest them!" We all looked at each other in wonderment because none of us ever remembered saying the word detest to him before.
This morning Joshua came into our room and shined his flashlight in Jon Mark's face while saying, "daddy, it's almost Christmas." Ummm, no, sorry kid but Christmas is like 40,000 light years away in kid years.
