Hannah Kaye McAvoy is here! She was born on April 24, 2013 at 12:45 pm. She's absolutely beautiful and we are in love with our little baby!
I was advised to have a cesarean because they anticipated her being too big to push out. But, as it turns out, she weighed exactly as much as Luke at 8 lbs 15 oz. I did, however, have 10 pounds of amniotic fluid which is a very large amount. Seeing how I had convinced myself that I was going to die on the operating table, I was pleasently surprised with how well the c-section went. It was a really strange sensation. I felt a lot of tugging and pulling and a large amount of pressure. The healing hasn't been too bad, I am just really sore around the incision sight, and there is quite a bit of burning if I make any sudden or twisting movements. But, I am pretty certain that my doctor gave me a little tummy tuck while he was stitching everything back together, so I am pleased.
Hannah is a beauty! She came out very pink with lots of brown hair. I anticipate that it will lighten somewhat, because Luke's was similarly dark. We shall see. The genetisist believes that she does have Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome, however only in it's most mild form. We feel very blessed. She passed all of the major tests with flying colors and manages her blood sugar levels just fine. Her abdomen looks great, and her tongue (if larger at all) is only larger by like a milimeter. Really, they are only considering Beckwith due to a small crease in her earlobe that looks like a pierced ear, her increased amniotic fluid, and the abnormal nuchal transluscency test. Other than that, she looks and acts completely normal and really the only concern now is the increased cancer risk. So, we will need to screen her every three months for 8 years just to be on the safe side.
She is such a sweet little baby. I love holding her on my chest and listening to her breathe. I love the way she smells and feels. Really there are no words to describe how much I love holding my babies. There's just something so beautiful and innocent about it. Hannah, we love you!
