Happy Birthday to Me

I don't really feel like blogging today.  Either my computer is too difficult, or Blogger is poorly designed, but posting pictures is a nightmare.  Seriously, it takes about 30 minutes to post one picture.  What am I doing wrong???

Anyway, so no pictures today.  I'll post pictures again someday, but not today...

1.  My birthday was on Monday.  However, I decided to remain 30 for a few more days because my 31st birthday was just too horrible to be called a birthday.  I'll give you just the facts... because it is a long story...

Basically, Jon Mark had night school and ran out of gas.  I loaded up the kids and went to rescue him.  I returned home and was locked out.  He was still stranded because the car wouldn't start.  After lining up roadside assistance, the whole ordeal lasted about 3-3.5 hours.  In the meantime, I was locked out of the house for that entire time with the three kids in a small car.  They were freaked out by the many raccoons that we saw roaming around us, and had a difficult time going potty outside because of being scared.  My car has no heat, so they were a little cold, until I gave up my coat, and then they were fine.  Luckily, that night was one of the more warmer Ohio winter nights.  Jon Mark made it home, finally, and I declared it my un-birthday.

However, the night turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  My birthday also marks the end of our car registration.  We couldn't get it registered because the check engine light was on and the mechanics couldn't figure out what was wrong.  Well, when the car died, the check engine light went off and I was able to get my car registered.  We had been praying that the car situation would be resolved and it was.  Because it happened on the 18th of all days, I didn't have to pay any late fees either.  So, the Lord answers our prayers, even if it may seem rather inconvenient at the time.

2. Being 31 isn't that different from 30.  Sometimes I think that I feel the same inside as I did at 17.  But, then I spend some time around 17 year olds and realize, Nope, I'm not 17, I am 31.  Time does fly, though... especially with kids around.

3.  On Wednesday some girls in the ward and I went to a chick flick for my birthday.  It was fun.  I have some really amazing friends here, and I am really going to miss them.  It is the one bummer of moving back to AZ.  I wish they could all come with me.

4.  On Friday, Jon Mark and I went out to find me a present.  I bought a skirt and a fondue pot.  We recently "fondued" with a couple other people in the ward and had so much fun that I wanted one for ourselves.  Now my mouth is watering as I sit and think about all of the great food I am going to eat with my fondue pot.  Then we went to Coldstone for ice cream.  It was a fun evening.

5.  My 30th year was good to me.  I got to admire the intellectual nature of my husband as he completed his 2nd year of law school.  We spent a summer in AZ for the opportunity to have a great externship.  We watched as our kids grew even cuter and smarter.  I conceived our 4th child and have been handleing pregnancy like a champ and wih virtually no complaining whatsoever... alright, maybe not... I mostly conquered my insomnia issues.  I'm sure there are other highlights, but I'm tired of typing.  I hope 31 is as good to me.

5.
