We had a great Halloween this year. Jon Mark really wanted to keep our costumes a surprise this year... but he married me and I am not one who can usually keep surprises to myself. I did very well, but to his disappointment (truly, he was disappointed) I forgot that I hadn't told anyone and the day before Halloween, I ruined the surprise. This year we had a family theme of Star Wars. Because Darth Vador was married to Padme, Jon Mark was Darth and I was Padme (aka Queen Amidala). And, since they had two children together, we made Joshua Luke Skywalker--Jon Mark kept saying, "Luke, I am your father," and Mercedes was Princess Laia. Her costume was a favorite. It's too bad that she had a poopy blowout in it less than thirty minutes into the party! Her wig still looked cute.

For Halloween, we started out trick-or-treating at Mom Mom and Papa's house, then we went to great grandparents, and finally we ended up at a block party in my parents neighborhood. Joshua was delighted all night long. He learned quickly that he was indeed a fan of Halloween. Candy, grandparents, costumes, and staying up past his bedtime... what's not to like?! At first he ate his candy as fast as it was put into his bag, but soon enough he figured out that if he left it alone, he could get to more houses more quickly and thus he would be able to get more candy. Silly boy. I'm not sure what Mercedes thought of it all. Half the night her face was completely covered by her wig. At one point (at our ward Trunk-or-Treat) her diaper came unvelcrowed and fell completely off exposing her bare bottom under her hiked up Princess Laia gown. She looked so chunky and cute.

This past week or so ago, my sister in law, Michelle, came into town with her little baby, Sawyer. We had a lot of fun shopping, making flower bows, and one night we (the McAvoy clan) went to Schnepf Farms. Joshua REALLY liked riding the airplane ride. He thought he was really in an airplane, and that he was flying it himself.
