HOORAY!!! Not for the weak stomach...

My poor little guy has had a very bad case of diarreah and vomiting recently. The other day, I spent so much time cleaning (actually scrubbing til I thought my hands would break off), up diarreah and throw-up from off of my carpet.

As I have said before, Joshua likes his privacy when he goes poop. So, on Friday it wasn't unusual for him to hide behind the couch for several minutes while he did his business. But then I began to hear VERY foul noises, with a stench that was equally foul. Seriously, it sounded and smelled very adult! He was behind the couch for quite sometime, I was nursing throughout it all, and when he finally emerged, he had to waddle over to me. I gave him a strange look and asked him why he was walking funny, that's when I noticed that apparently not only did it look and smell very adult, but it was adult in size as well. Apparently diapers his size can't contain so much of a load. It poured down his legs and likewise poured onto the carpet. I put Mercedes down, which angered her because she wasn't done nursing, and meanwhile Joshua was becoming increasingly upset because of his upset stomach... needless to say, I was suddenly at a loss as to what to do. With some juggling, I somehow managed to get Joshua into the tub and Mercedes into a bouncer chair that had been transported into the bathroom also. I cleaned him off, finished nursing her, dressed him, cleaned up the poopy mess, did a load of wash, reluctantly gave Joshua a snack (which later proved to be the wrong thing to do), and then I pretty much rejoiced when I saw Jon Mark walk in the front door. Hallelujah!

As I was telling Jon Mark about the last couple of hours, Joshua became very quiet. Then, that snack I gave him earlier came up. Jon Mark grabbed him (which then left a trail of purple throw-up all the way from the toy corner to the kitchen sink) and rushed him over to the sink to finish the job. Poor little guy up heaved everything! He never shed a single tear, which already proves that he is tougher than his mom, but he did have a look of concern on his face as he contemplated what exactly was happening to his little body. Meanwhile, I went back to scrubbing the floor.

To make a long story somewhat shorter, I'll just finish by saying that that was the start to MUCH, MUCH more cleaning up. However, this post isn't called HOORAY for no reason, yes, there is a silver lining to all of this. Because the diarrhea has been pretty much non-stop, Jon Mark and I decided to encourage Joshua to use the potty (to spare his bottom a little from the harshness of it). Joshua has since successfully pooped in the toilet TWICE!!! WOOHOO!

I am sure everyone wants to hear your poopy stories. :) I hope he is feeling better. Maybe once he is feeling better you can start potty training again. We missed seeing him today.
