Constitution Week

Sorry, no pictures yet... this post is mainly for journaling purposes.

We had the opportunity to go to the Constitution Fair last night with the Frosts' and my parents.  We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to go again next year.  The place was full of free booths with activities for the kids to do and it had a concert with music by David Osmond.  Bekah and Joshua loved dancing to the music and they had quite an audience.  At one point, Joshua started to really shake his hips and said, "c'mon everybody, shake your Washington" with a certain amount of exuberance.  Of course, we all got a chuckle out of it, but he was entirely innocent of course.  He asked me why we were all laughing and I bluffed and said that we thought he was making up a joke.  I repeated what he said and he corrected me.  "No, Mom, I said everybody shake their General Washington".  Where does he come up with this stuff?!

Mercedes and Elena had a good time together as well.  Mercedes let us get her face painted, but she wasn't too keen on the idea for a short time beforehand.  She had a firework painted and Luke had USA written on his cheek.  Mercedes really enjoyed being able to delve into the cookies and popcorn that was there for the taking.  She's such a cute little girl.  She's quick to apologize when she has made a mistake and she's quick to tell me that all mistakes are accidents.  "I'm sorry Mom, it was an accident."

Luke had the greatest time holding onto his balloon.  Oh, it cracked me up!!  Recently he had lost a couple of balloons.  Once at Gavin's birthday party (when we release balloons to heaven), and once at Tyler's birthday party.  He was heartbroken both times.  So, at constitution week, he held tight to his balloon and would not release his grip for a few hours, even though I told him over and over again that I had tied it onto his wrist.  He was so cute with his death grip on the string.  He kept telling me that he didn't want his balloon to fly away.  At one point he thought that one of the carnival games would pop his balloon and he cried until we explained that they use a different balloon to pop for the prize.

I really enjoyed the outing.  I loved the patriotism.  I feel blessed to live in America and I pray that her citizen's will turn back to God.
