May and June Events Part One

We had the opportunity to celebrate a few events this past month. In June, we have Jon Mark's birthday on the 18th, Father's day, Mercedes birthday on the 21st, and our anniversary on the 25th. And, I'm still waiting on Michelle to get me some pictures, but when all of the McAvoy clan was in town, we celebrated all of the cousins birthday's in May. That was a lot of fun, and our kids (all of the cousins) got a special cake made by Mommom, a little toy from Angel Gavin, and a toy from the grandparents. So, our Mercedes thought that we had been having one party after the other just for her. Anytime I called her Princess or Baby Girl, she'd say, "No, I birthday girl".

Jon Mark was perhaps a little overlooked by myself and his siblings. Not one of his four siblings called him on his birthday--shame on you guys :)--which probably would have made me cry. But, Jon Mark was happy because then he had something to hold over their heads (all in good fun of course). I kept reminding him that I got him tickets to go see BYU play football, but that's not for a while, so he really didn't have any presents to open from me. I felt bad about that--but he took it like a champ. I think it's safe to say that perhaps he is a little more mature than I am (in this one department anyway)...On his birthday, I made him chocolate chip cookies because he doesn't like cake. I did put a candle in the cookie, and we did sing happy birthday, but it wasn't until the kids were already in bed. Jon Mark was a good sport about it all.

Joshua also wrote him a letter that said (I dictated), Dear Dad, You are the best dad in the whole world! I know for your birthday you want a Superman cape, but what else do you want? From Joshua
