Ahhh! So Much Better--And, Some of Those Warm Fuzzies for You

Last night was fun. It was a really good break. I went to Bunko last night, and I got to talk to the neat ladies who go every month. They let me talk all about my sleep issues, which was great. I also talked with my OBGYN about it and he gave me some temporary sleeping pills (to break the insomnia cycle).

I figure, he's probably used to emotional women, I mean he is a gyno. But, I wonder if he's used to crazy women who cry on him. I didn't mean to cry, I'm embarrassed that I did, but I was so sleep deprived that I couldn't help it. Anyway, last night I slept uninterrupted for 8 hours!!!!! OH, HAPPY DAY! It felt amazing. I feel so refreshed and ready to take on the world at this moment, so bring it on!!

I also wanted to add some warm fuzzies to this post.

Joshua said such a cute prayer the other day. It went something like this:

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the good things we got. Thanks for Daddy and the strong, powerful man he is. Bless him that he'll get even bigger and stronger muscles so that he can protect us and keep us safe more. Thank you for Mommy and the pretty girl she is. Bless her to exercise and get some muscles. Oh, and please bless Daddy to get into JacksonWhite before it's too late. ...Amen

I thought that was a very cute, thoughtful prayer. The other night at dinner he was sooo stinkin' cute and charming. He spent the whole dinner telling me how beautiful I am and how I am the only Mommy he ever wanted. He went on and on. I started to get a little suspicious, especially when he declared, "hey, thanks Mommy, for this very yummy dinner." Because that never happens. But, apparently, he was just being sweet. He also told me how he'd get Daddy to help him make a huge, very beautiful, Valentine picture for me with all of my kids in it (and Daddy).

Yesterday, when I was trying to combat insomnia, Jon Mark told me to try to exercise on the eliptical for an hour. I asked him what I was supposed to do with the kids during that time. He told me to turn on a movie and tell them they can come get me if there's an emergency or something is wrong with Luke. So, I did that, and I checked the entire house for choking hazards and made sure everything was child-proof. Then I closed off the bathroom, bedroom, stairs, and kitchen to keep Luke safe. Thinking that I had covered my bases, I proceeded to exercise. About 20 minutes later, Joshua came to me holding a very soggy Starburst wrapper. "Mom, ummm Luke had this in his mouth. I got it out cuz it's a choking hazard." I told him he was a hero. I have no clue where Luke got it from because I seriously checked EVERYTHING. I even vaccuummed. Anyway, needless to say, I then brought the highchair into the toy room where I was exercising and had him sit there so I could watch him. I pushed aside the guilty feeling of using my four year old to babysit, and cooed at Luke for the remaining 40 minutes. I am thankful for Joshua's sense of responsibility.

Mercedes has also been very sweet. She tries so hard to listen nowadays, and you can kind of see in her expression when she's tempted not to. But, usually her conscience gets to her and she'll make the right choice. When I do have to discipline her, she buries her face in her hands and says, "ahhh" like, "ah, man!" Sometimes she'll cry while she covers her eyes. When I explain why she had gotten in trouble she'll nod along with me and then ask for a hug. Nothing is ever truely mended with her until she gets a hug good and tight. I like that.

The other night, after I had put the kids to bed, I decided to take a hot bath. No sooner had I sat down into the bubbles, when I heard laughing, fighting, jumping on the bed, and all sorts of mischief. I'm in the tub, so I started debating on whether or not I should get out, get dressed, and see what the issue was. As I was debating, Mercedes came barging into the bathroom with both nostrils bleeding. She hangs her head over the tub so that I could comfort her, and proceeds to bleed into my bathwater. I guess she bonked her nose on the metal bunk bed.

Luke is a darling child. He can clap, give high fives, and the other day he said, "MAMA MAMA MAMA MAMA". He says it in seriously the cutest way ever. I tried filming it, but he wouldn't do it for the camera. He knows he's doing something cute, so he kind of smiles and chews the words out, if that makes any sense. It's seriously SO CA-UTE! It has become one of my most favorite things ever, that and when he lays his head on me to snuggle. Oh, man, I LOVE IT!

Well, there you have it. I love how everything seems so much better on a good night's sleep.
