Tidbits

So, tonight my hubby has left me for 24 hours to go be the priesthood rep for girl's camp. You would not believe what an uproar this has caused at our house. At dinner, I told the kids that I'd miss daddy tonight because he was going away. Joshua took this to mean that he was going away forever. He said, "but daddy, this is your house. Will you still live with us?" We then explained how temporary it was (being less than 24 hours after all) and he seemed much better. But then Mercedes wanted to go to... and she ran and got her shoes, then cried hysterically when we told her she couldn't go.

Later, while Jon Mark was packing, Joshua said to me, "but we're his family, why is he leaving his family? I don't want daddy to go away." Apparently he didn't understand the previous dinner conversation we had had. He then prayed about it in his personal prayer this evening. Poor kid. I think he finally understands that daddy will be back shortly after he wakes up in the morning. Although, I will say, that the one thing he wanted to do when Jon Mark left was play "baby birds" (a game I invented that Jon Mark absolutely hates--Joshua knows daddy hates that game and so he requests to play it whenever Jon Mark isn't going to be home).

Joshua isn't the only one who had strong feelings about daddy leaving. Aside from her running to get her shoes earlier, Mercedes fell asleep crying repeatedly, "I want to see daddy!" while pointing to the front room. She had a poopy and only wanted daddy to change her diaper (she has a bit of a rash and likes getting cuddles from Jon Mark when he's done changing her--she's quite the daddy's girl these days).

Luckily, Luke has no clue what's going on, and as long as he's fed and held, he's good to go. He's such a good baby in the daytime. He's good at night for the most part as well. He only wakes once or twice for a feeding, but after he feeds he can't stop squirming around like he's got bad gas. So, my sleep is pretty much ruined after his feeding. I am beginning to believe that perhaps he is allergic to milk or something like that. He's just so gassy. However, it doesn't seem to bother him as much in the daytime... so I don't know. He is smiling quite a bit (not sure if it's socially yet) and I LOVE it when he laughs in his sleep. All of my children laughed in their sleep as newborns and I think it's so cute.
