Moving

Cleveland, Ohio... here we come!

We've been very fortunate to have received a few offers from law schools across the country.  Out of the ones who accepted us, we have decided to go to Case Western University.  Unless plans change (which is probably not going to happen) we will move to Ohio the beginning of August.

The move scares me.  I am a baby about moving away from family.  I have never had to make friends from scratch, I have always had a crutch to lean on, and let's be honest, I would rather be hot than cold and we all know that Cleveland is COLD!  I adore all of the relatives that we have here.  Joshua and Mercedes see their grandmas all the time.  I have a free babysitter whenever I need one.  And, I like that my children know their cousins and uncles and aunts (even the ones who live away).  So, all of those things combined scare me.

On the other hand, I am a little excited (a little).  I mean, there probably won't be very many cockroaches there (because it is sooo cold), Joshua and Mercedes will get to play in the snow (did I mention it's cold there), and Jon Mark and I will learn more about leaning on each other.  Plus, I'm sure there will be more cuddling because, once again, it's cold.  My vitiligo won't show up because the sun won't be out as much-- I have a skin pigment disorder, but luckily I am so fair skinned that it doesn't show up unless I get a tan (the places of my skin that reject pigment stay white).

So, that is my effort for looking on the bright side.  Oh, one more highlight of this move... I currently own maybe two long-sleeved shirts and one sweatshirt... Jon Mark told me that one of the first items of business when we get there will be to buy me a new winter wardrobe (we all know how much I LOVE to go shopping).

(Clearing of throat) Yay for Ohio!

If you're still reading my ramblings, I am thankful for the opportunity.  I am just keepin' it real.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! And you will love it! Did you know that the Gaskins and the Ellsworths are both in Cleveland? And you're right - there are no cockroaches anywhere near the midwest. It'll be great!!

How exciting! Congratulations to your whole cute little family. I bet this will be a great experience. It's great that you really appreciate living close to family (I wish we had that!) and I am sure you will find a way to live close again when school is done. But what great adventures await you in the meantime!

I know it will be an adjustment to live away from family, but your little family will grow so much being on your own. I actually miss being on our own. Congrats and good luck! Don't freeze! The snow is gorgeous!!!
