I love my kids' pediatrician. I LOVE the wonderful job he does with my kids. But, yesterday something kind of grose happened that I just had to share. Nothing can be done about it now, just hope it makes for a healthy immune system in the long run!
Doctor walks into the room.
Me: Joshua just went poop. Do you want me to change his diaper?
Doctor: Nah, we'll just work around it.
Me: Joshua is running a small fever and has had diareah every once in a while. Could he be teething?
Doctor: Maybe. We'll check his gums in a moment to see if his molars are breaking through.
A series of more questions...
A discussion on potty training...
A discussion on how to get Joshua to stop biting...
Sometime later in the check-up the doctor opens Joshua's diaper to check out all of his man parts. He doesn't get any poop on his hands, but still, he is touching the parts to make sure all is well. He closes the diaper back up and proceeds to answer my many more questions.
Doctor: Alright, looks like he's perfect. (I can tell the appointment is drawing to a close.)
Me: Oh, were you still going to see if his two-year molars are breaking through?
Doctor: I'm glad you reminded me. Let's take a look.
Doctor proceeds to stick his same fingers (unwashed from moments earlier when he checked inside the diaper) into Joshua's mouth to feel the back of his gums.
Doctor: He is definitly teething. He'll continue to have pretty loose stools over the course of the next couple of weeks.
I can't wait til Joshua's older so I can tell him what he tasted! Oh, and by the way, I didn't think about the washing of the hands until I got home. It's not like I watched it as it was happening, wishing that I had said something...

I am so glad you clarified that. I was reading it thinking, WHY DIDN'T RALAE SAY SOMETHING!!! Haha that is a really funny story. Poor Joshua. By the way did he try and bite the doctor's fingers off. I would be nervous to stick my fingers in there. How funny Ralae!!!
Oh, that is so gross! So, he has a biting problem? It must just be the name! We were terrified of my cousin, Josh, when we were little because he would bite us! I'm just teasing though. So, I wonder if your doctor ever realized what he did.
So funny. And I to am so excited for when Joshua is 15 and I turn to you and say "Hey Ralae, rememver when Joshua tasted his own poop!!!!:)" Funny! And those pics of Mercedes are sooooo cute, (the ones you sent) Love them!
