So, I am now almost 37 weeks pregnant. The countdown has begun. I need to post a picture of my belly. I think it's huge, although I am measuring smaller than I did with Joshua. It's got an odd shape. I carry so low that it kind of looks like a fleshy protruding shelf. Having a belly this big is a strange thing. It makes simple tasks much harder. I never thought I'd have trouble tying my shoes or wrestling with Joshua to change a poopy diaper. I guess you forget how awkward it is until the next time you're this big again. I know I must have had similar discomforts when I was pregnant with Joshua.
The bad news (if you want to call it bad news) is that the doctor checked me yesterday and he told me that absolutely nothing is happening to progress towards labor. My cervix isn't dilated, I'm not effaced, and the baby hasn't dropped. I know that I still have a few more weeks for things to start moving along, but no woman wants to hear that nothing is progressing after having been pregnant for so long. I'm excited to hold my baby and to introduce her to her brother and daddy. Joshua is so cute with my belly. I don't think he has any clue as to how his life is going to change in just a few short weeks, but he is always hugging and kissing my belly saying, "hi, baby, hi!" I wonder what he thinks when he sees real babies and then thinks about my belly that I am always referring to as a baby. He must think that mommy has a very ugly looking baby! He thinks my belly button is the baby, and he'll try to see it when we're at the store or around company. I'm always pulling my shirt back down. And, today my niece was over at my house and she followed me into the bathroom. Of course my belly was showing, and of course she thought she had to try to kiss it right then like she has seen Joshua doing a million times-- the only difference was that I was right in the middle of going to the bathroom! To say the least, I felt my privacy was invaded and called for my sister to come get Bekah right away. How embarrassing for her when she's getting married and they have a luncheon. When they open up the mike to the guests to tell embarrassing stories of the happy couple, I know what I'll be armed with! Oh, Bekah, you make me laugh. You're such a cutie in so many ways!
