Joshua received his first black eye yesterday. He got up a little too fast and fell face first into the corner of the wall. It split and bled and started swelling pretty fast. Of course, I jumped the gun and rushed him off to twilight pediactric care. Well, the wait was so darn long that by the time we actually got to see a doctor, he was absolutely fine. Yes, it was still swollen, but he was happy and talkative.
He has also adjusted really well to sleeping in a toddler bed. He's cried himself to sleep a couple of times and fell asleep next to the door, but for the most part he has done really well. The other night his Papa McAvoy was over when I put him down to sleep. He was not happy that Papa got to stay but he had to go to bed. He cried next to the door for a long time until he fell asleep in the position of looking under the crack of the door. The next morning, I went to get him out of his room. Normally, Joshua wants me to hold him and hug him. But, instead, he walked/stomped right past me and looked all over the house for Papa while saying "Papa? Here? Papa, are you?" His little face was so disappointed. I guess he remembered that Papa was here when he went to sleep and he thought he'd be there to play when he woke up. I felt bad. But, his Papa McAvoy was pretty happy when I told him about it.

That is so funny! (Jaron said- use a phone book or something that won't leave a mark, next time you discipline your kids. Smacked his eye on the corner......right....wink wink)
Me again- i loved that story of Joshua. It's so fun when they start communicating and you get to know what they are thinking about.
