Just An Update

Hi.  So, I need to update this blog.  It's been on my to-do list for awhile.

Joshua
Joshua Bug.  You are ready for kindergarten.  You start in two weeks and you are ready to go.  I can't believe you're that old.  Truthfully, you could have gone to kindergarten last year, but I wasn't ready.  I'm still not sure that I am, but I can't hold onto you forever.  You 're going to do great.  You have such an intuitive mind.  You love seeing how things work.  You have enough questions for the both of us, and you aren't satisfied until they are answered fully and completely.  The difficult thing is that one question always leads to another.  You're also kind and helpful.  I know that I can depend on you to tell the truth and be responsible.  I love watching you interact with your siblings.  You're very gentle.  They look up to you.  You got a pocket knife from your Uncle Brian a few weeks ago.  Five (almost 6) years old seems a bit young for a pocket knife.  But, I don't worry about it too much because I know I can trust you to keep the rules and to be cautious.  You feel so grown-up with your pocket knife.  I hope I can always remember just how proud you looked when you came home and showed it to dad.  You made up your mind to do a flip off of the side of the pool and you did it!  You're usually quite cautious so I was surprised when you did.  I'm so proud of you!  You're such a great kid, and a handsome one, too!

Mercedes
Mer Mer.  Sadie Lady.  I was watching some home videos of you the other day.  You were such an adorable little toddler.  You're still adorable as a preschooler.  I love your cute little ways.  You love your little sister.  It's cute watching you sing to her.  You love dressing up and singing.  The other day you helped Mommom cook Sunday dinner and you were so proud of yourself.  It was so cute seeing you sit on your stool next to Mommom.  You asked her what she was doing every few minutes and you had on an apron which made you feel so grown-up.  You love swimming but you've gotten into a lazy habit of swimming with your face out of the water and kind of doing this weird float thingy because you don't want your eyes to go under the water.  You're still either all sunshine or all thunderstorm but I think I am learning how to parent you no matter which way you're feeling that day, or at least I thing I am.  You love to sit on laps, even during primary.  The other day you came up to me with the biggest smile on your face.  You said, "look Mom!  I have a lot of nipples all over just like Daddy!"  I questioned you because that really didn't make any sense.  I finally figured out that you were actually talking about freckles.  I loved your enthusiasm, though.  You have a beautiful smile, and soft curly hair.  You've got the prettiest blue eyes that light up when you get excited.  While it's no surprise that you like having things your way, you're getting good about listening and obeying.  I sure do feel lucky to be your mom.

Luke
Lukey bear.  You make me smile.  You're quite the entertainer when music comes on.  You can't help but move to it.  You still take really long naps, and when I am singing to you, you love to have your hands on my face (usually next to my mouth).  You also like to hold my hand when I am tucking you into bed.  You are my most cuddly little one, and I love it.  When you hear a strange noise, you snuggle into me and say, "oh no!  Monster!"  in the cutest little whispery voice.  The other day your uncles put you up on the tall shelf at the McAvoy's house and told you to jump off to them.  You stood up and had this look that seemed to say, "alright let's do this".  You're eyes got really big, you sized it up, and then you jumped with pure elation!  It was so funny.  Sometimes you get jealous of Hannah.  You bit her once.  But, most of the time you're really sweet with her.  You love making Joshua and Mercedes laugh.  Last night, Mercedes came out of the bedroom and said to Daddy, "You have got to see this!"  She was so excited that Daddy followed her back and found you spitting out all of your water from your sippy cup and getting the bed soaking wet.  Joshua and Mercedes were laughing hysterically at it, which is probably the only reason why you didn't get into too much trouble.  You're a sweet little guy and I love you!

Hannah
Hannah Banana.  Or, sometimes just Banana.  You are such a GOOD baby!  You never cry, you love being cuddled (upright or being held facing out).  You are so sweet.  I can hardly believe that 3 months have flown by.  You are so chubby.  I will post pictures soon so that everyone can see your yummy, chunky, rolly-polly legs.  I can't get enough of it!  You love sucking your hands, you don't like being swaddled any more.  You hate pacifiers.  You aren't a huge fan of tummy-time, but you have great head support.  You were so good while they poked you over and over for your three month blood draw.  They finally took the blood they needed from your head, which was not fun for me to see, but you were a trooper.  You did great for your ultrasound.  You love to smile when you're getting your diaper changed.  You love bathtime.  You truly are a special, sweet, cuddly baby, and I love you!
