Kevin's Homecoming, and 28 Years Old!!!

Kevin came home from his mission last week, and it feels as though we've been partying ever since.  I had been prepping Joshua for the last few months.  I told him that his Uncle Kevin was on a mission and would be coming home soon.  I didnt really think it was sinking in at all, until we were watching the movie "Up".  When the little boy named that weird looking bird "Kevin", Joshua turned to me and said, "Kevin is a bird!" said with much amazement.  So, I painted this poster as a joke.

We felt that Kevin deserved an original McAvoy welcome home celebration.  So, we made a huge sign to cover the door.  We decided that he would have to break through it to the tune of "The Eye of the Tiger" and we would all be waiting on the other side of the sign armed with silly string.
He loved it!  Or, at least he acted like he did!  My inlaws house was covered in silly string... which I find much easier to sweep up once it's dry.  Here is Kevin trying to win Joshua over with a couple of gifts (a Cowboys shirt and a dog), and it didn't take Joshua long at all to determine, "I love my Uncle Kevin, Mommy!"  Which is a common phrase in our house lately.
Here is Kevin meeting Mercedes and Sawyer for the first time.  It's funny how Michelle and I were pregnant and gave birth, and now our babies are 8 months old, all while Kevin was away.  A lot happens is two years, I guess!
Here are our signs:
Here's is Me, along with Michelle and Jessica in front of the balloons we posted in the front yard (although you can't see the balloons).
Sawyer and Mercedes weren't sure what all the fuss was about.
Sawyer always has a smile on his face.  He smiles for everyone!
Joshua got to stay up way past his bedtime almost everyday last week.
Mercedes was off her schedule a little bit, but we still managed to eat some solids.
We also celebrated my 28th birthday while everyone was in town.  I guess I should say, we celebrated mine, Vanessa's, and Kevin's.
Comforting a crying Joshua after he fell down.
Michelle and Sawyer.

The yummy cheesecake Lindsay made for us.

And, for my birthday, I got this beauty...
Here's Joshua on Papa McAvoy's (Big Papa--Joshua calls him that on occasion)
With Kevin, Papa, Uncle Jaron, Uncle Nick, and Daddy around all of the time, Joshua wanted to wear a big tie to church and basketball shorts around the house.
We also went swimming the the hot tub while Sawyer got his survival swimming lessons.  Here is Sawyer and Mercedes washing up afterward.  Don't you just love my chunky butterball turkey?!
Anyway, it was a fun week and a half.  I'm sad that Michelle, Jaron, Jessica, and Sawyer had to go back to Utah.  It's always a good time when they visit.  If anyone knows of any jobs that require a biology degree or a degree in family sciences, let me know.  Because if Jaron and Jessica were able to get jobs down here, then we'd be able to play more!  Just throwin' it out there!
