My little boy is obsessed with firemen lately. We have read so many books about them over and over again. He sometimes sleeps with his toy firetruck, and he has to have his "fireman" blanket at night. I think I have answered the question, "what do firemen do?", about a thousand times. In fact, tonight we just went and visited a fire station with some friends and family. We had to schedule the tour two weeks in advance, and every day Joshua has asked about when we were going to go to the fire house. I think he was a little disappointed in the overall trip because it was geared towards older children.
Well, because he has had a few accidents recently (one of which happened tonight at the fire station), we have been telling him that firemen go potty in the toilet and they don't go in their pants. We've been focusing our efforts on trying to get him to tell us when he needs to go. He knows that firemen are the people you call when you need help, because we have talked about it in terms of fire safety. But, he took the "help" to a whole new level yesterday. Yesterday in church we had made several practice runs to the potty to see if he needed to go. I kept telling him that he needed to let me know when he needed to go. Then, in the middle of sacrament meeting, Joshua yelled out, "Help! Help! Fireman, Joshua has to pee!"
He's done much better today with telling us before wetting or soiling himself. At the mall he told us, in the car he told us, and at home he told us (but not at the fire station!). At dinner time, he said something about Joshua having to go poop, but I (big mistake) ignored it because he had already gone poop twice. Well, I didn't think twice about it until bath time when Joshua went poop in the water! It was nasty trying to fish it out and then clean all of his many bath toys afterward. I guess it's something every parent probably goes through during the potty training stages.

Such a cute age! Ralae I love all the music on your blog. A lot of it takes me back to hanging out with you and singing at the top of our lungs. Good memories!
