Reflections

I've been a little "weighed down" by the sins of the world recently. The elections that happened last November caused me to take a serious look at all of the moral/political issues that our Nation was facing. The news in general made me very sad. And, after yet another night of being moved to tears over the wickedness that is so rampant, Jon Mark told me that it might be a good idea if I stopped researching these moral issues on the Internet. It seems as though everywhere we look people are calling good evil and evil good. There's so much confusion. I'm grateful for the opportunity to attend church each Sunday so that my spirit can be refreshed. I was especially thankful this past Sunday. With Christmas approaching, we have more opportunities to reflect upon the birth and mission of our Savior, Jesus Christ--doing so brings me so much peace and solace. In this world of confusion and wickedness, there are a few things I know for sure:

1. Jesus lives! Those two words have such great meaning. He came to earth in the lowliest of circumstances in order to bring life. To all of the mothers who are missing their angel children, to all of the widows who are missing their husbands, to all who grieve and mourn--Jesus lives! And, because He lives, we will be reunited with our loved ones again, for that I am most certain.

2. The atonement is real! Because Jesus atoned for our sins, there is hope.

3. There is a prophet today! Always, but especially in times of uncertainty and confusion, I am grateful to have a testimony that there is a prophet on the earth today. I do know that if we heed his words, we will have lasting happiness.

How thankful I am for this Christmas season. I'm grateful that Jesus Christ did come to earth. We had faith in Him that He would keep His word before we even came to earth. I trust Him and have faith in Him still. To each of you, Merry Christmas!

That was very refreshing to read. It is hard not to get discouraged by all the bad, but we do just have to trust in Christ and look for the good because there still is a lot of that too. The media rarely shows that though. Hey, I hope you guys had a great Christmas. It sure was fun seeing you at the party.
